I hope you are well. You are not as cold as you were before and, though everyone’s happy with a bit more warmth, I do miss the cold. Nevermind, that’s not why I’m writing to you. You seldom are someone’s favourite season – but you’re mine. I do enjoy all of the others, but when you come around so do many things that make me happy… or rather happier than when it’s warmer.
Warm clothes, coats or socks that you get to wear when it’s cold. Aaaaah so comfy! I also love woolly hats, scarves and knitting so I get to knit a lot more (even though this year I’ve been rubbish). Then there’s the hot drinks and cakes I make at home for comfort. There’s Christmas – my favourite holiday EVER! You also have more of an excuse to stay in and watch a film curled up in your favourite blanket with a cup of tea – especially when the weather is not so good.
Strangely, it feels like you slow everything down (in a good way). When you’re there, I’m under the impression that I have more time to do things that I neglect when it’s sunny (because I’m outside, obviously) such as reading a book or playing the ukulele a little bit longer. I get more done, and have more time for myself. I love lighting candles – I rarely do it in the other seasons for some reason – and the smell and feel of a lit fireplace.
I know you’re going to go soon and let Miss Spring take over. I love her too, so I’m not too sad. But I’ll be missing you when it’s excruciatingly hot. I’ll be waiting for you and start to get excited in November, already listening to Christmas songs and taking winter clothes out. Take care of yourself wherever you’re off to, I’ll be there to greet you when you return.
Lots of love Mister Winter,
